Design in motion: The automotive icons defining Milan Design Week 2025

Each April, Milano transforms into a living gallery during Design Week — a moment where the city becomes a crossroads of ideas and innovation. In recent years, the event has also become an unmissable stage for the luxury automotive world, where leading brands showcase not only their latest models but also their design philosophy and creative identity.

At Milano Design Week 2025, iconic automotive names like Lamborghini, Range Rover, and Maserati are not just showcasing cars: they’re presenting visions. No longer confined to the roads, these vehicles enter the world of design as objects of desire, symbols of lifestyle, and platforms for storytelling.

Through curated experiences, installations and collaborations, these automotive icons are redefining the role of the automobile in the context of contemporary design, reflecting their heritage while projecting their vision of the future. From refined craftsmanship to bold innovation, their presence in Milan is a reminder that design is not just what we see — it’s what moves us.

Lamborghini x Ducati, “The Art of Unexpected”

During Milan Design Week, the world’s benchmark event for design, the new Ducati Panigale V4 Lamborghini was unveiled to the public. This marks the third chapter in the collaboration between Ducati and Lamborghini, following the Ducati Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini and the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini. The two iconic brands, symbols of Made in Italy excellence in the world of motorsports, have merged once again in this collaboration to create the most powerful and lightest motorcycle in the series.

The new dueruote uses the most high-performance and sophisticated models in the two brands’ range: inspiring the new Panigale V4 is the Revuelto, Automobili Lamborghini’s first HPEV (high performance electrified vehicle) hybrid super sports car. The manufacturers from Sant’Agata Bolognese and Borgo Panigale worked together to design the unmistakable motorcycle livery and a series of unique components inspired by the Revuelto, including a fine leather saddle that echoes the vehicle’s interior. The result is an exclusive, limited, numbered series of 630 motorcycles.

Additionally, a Speciale Clienti line has been proposed to 63 fortunate Lamborghini Revuelto owners, allowing them to transfer the color scheme of their Lamborghini to their Ducati Panigale V4. Once again, the world of motorsport has succeeded in elevating an already exclusive world of high luxury, offering the possibility of building a truly custom-made garage where every detail reflects the owner’s personal identity.

Range Rover, “Futurespective: Connected Worlds”

The well-known British brand Range Rover amazed the audience at MDW2025 with a jaw-dropping immersive experience, located in the city center, that transported viewers through time, exploring two key eras: the brand’s origins in the 1970s and its current sophisticated and contemporary expression.

The journey begins in a vintage dealership, with wood paneling, intense tones and soft lighting that envelop every detail. At the center of the space stands the green Range Rover YVB 151H, the first pre-production model, presented as the brand’s founding icon. Every element, from the typical sounds of the time to odors reminiscent of the past, is carefully curated to best immerse the audience in the decade that witnessed the birth of the British icon.

The second environment throws the audience into the present. A bright room with mirrored surfaces and clean geometries showcases the latest generation Range Rover Autobiography, displayed in a metallic green shade inspired by the original model. The minimal, yet engaging, setting communicates the new vision of technological luxury that Range Rover identifies in 2025: elegant, innovative, and deeply rooted in its 1970s heritage.

Maserati x Giorgetti

The union between the automotive excellence of the Trident and the refined design of the historic furniture maison has resulted in an exclusive interior collection and a bespoke Fuoriserie, the perfect expression of timeless elegance and technological avant-garde, presented in the two respective boutiques in downtown Milan for MDW2025. Underlying this collaboration is a shared philosophy: meticulous attention to detail, the pursuit of perfection and the desire to offer unique experiences. Maserati and Giorgetti are targeting a sophisticated audience that demands uncompromising quality, proposing a mutual collaboration in which iconic elements of these two Made in Italy excellences come together.

The Giorgetti Maserati Edition interior collection is a tribute to the myth of the Trident, Maserati’s iconic symbol. Just as many Maserati models are named after legendary winds— from the Grecale to the Mistral— this collection, with its evocative names, draws inspiration from the marine universe, such as the Teti pouf and the Seidon modular sofa. Giorgetti’s architects have managed to translate typical Maserati elements, which on the vehicle serve as functional details, into refined design features, making this collection one of the most technically curated of the entire design week.  The metallic materials of the motor vehicle, the refined leather of the interior and details appreciated only by true admirers of the automotive brand are all integrated in a natural and unforced way into each Giorgetti product. Soft lines, resembling ocean waves, recur as decorative details, evoking the dynamic shapes formed during wind tunnel tests of Maserati’s Grecale.

On the Maserati side, the collaboration is embodied in a unique Grecale Folgore, an expression of the brand’s 100% electric production, created through the Maserati Fuoriserie customization program. This exclusive SUV features a bespoke livery and interior that celebrate Giorgetti’s craftsmanship, transforming the cabin into a welcoming environment enriched by fine materials and finishes inspired by the furniture collection. Giorgetti’s touch can be seen in the use of fabrics, the same ones used in the Giorgetti Maserati Edition line of armchairs and sofas, applied inside the vehicle along with the presence on the seats of the Maserati logo in wood, the brand’s distinctive material.
