Aigner

On September 21st, Aigner returned to Milan Fashion Week to present its Spring/Summer 2024 collection.

Founded in 1929 by Etienne Aigner, the label Aigner has become synonymous with timeless elegance, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality. Born in Munich, Germany, the brand’s history began when the Hungarian craftsman opened his first leather goods atelier – his impeccable craftsmanship quickly set him apart from his contemporaries.

Inspired by equestrian sports, the brand is famous for its distinctive horseshoe hardware placed on almost every piece. Later on, Aigner introduced its iconic “A” logo, a distinctive symbol that would become the brand’s emblem, inspired by the founder’s signature. Its elegant simplicity captured the essence of the brand and quickly became a status symbol among fashion enthusiasts.

AIGNER debuted at Milan Fashion Week with its Spring/Summer 2024 collection, drawing inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th century. Embracing craftsmanship and sustainable materials, the collection features vivid hues from nature, intricate patterns, and deluxe versions of iconic bags.

The “Honeysuckle” motif, influenced by William Morris, pervades the collection, adorning garments and bags. Creative Director Christian Alexander Beck showcased contemporary, sculptural ensembles alongside fluid, artistic designs with materials such as Georgette wool, Nappa, patent leather, and Hypertube silk.

The CYBILL Bag Honeysuckle was the center of attention, as we were lucky enough to spot the likes of Leonnie Hanne, Alessandra Ambrosio, and AMI styling it for the show. The bag was presented in Stretch and Stretch Mini versions, showcasing its floral pattern and meticulous craftsmanship.

Other iterations of the bag were seen, such as the NOVA Bag Honeysuckle, inspired by a vintage AIGNER model. It boasts a clean, minimalist design juxtaposed with a vibrant floral print. The CELESTE Bag exudes retro charm in handbag and belt bag variations, while TRIA focuses on three-dimensional shapes and expert leatherwork.

The palette spanned browns, yellows and blues, and most importantly dusty rose which was also found on the invitation. From a historical perspective, archive Aigner designs were reimagined using sustainable leather, which aligns with the Arts and Crafts movement’s ethos.

In terms of accessories, we saw a range of jewelry featuring crystals and semi-precious stones, echoing the collection’s colors. The shoe collection boasts distinctive details, including logoed sculptured heels and Honeysuckle jacquard patterns.

AIGNER’s SS24 collection celebrates simplicity, functionality, and the intrinsic beauty of materials, all while recognizing fashion’s impact on the environment and design.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Aigner for inviting LBSS to attend the SS24 spectacular fashion show. It is an honor to be part of such an esteemed event, and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to witness such creativity. Thank you once again for including us in this memorable event.
