Inspiration from Myth and History

The history of Bulgari’s Serpenti Collection traces its roots to ancient culture, particularly Greek and Roman mythology. Bulgari has drawn inspiration from the serpent, a representation of metamorphosis, longevity and wisdom, ever since the collection’s debut in the 1940s. The sinuous and coiling form of the serpent has been skillfully incorporated into a wide range of jewelry and watches, creating a timeless style icon.

Dreamlike jewels

Bulgari’s Serpenti Collection offers an extraordinary variety of jewels that capture the imagination and fantasy of those who watch and wear them. The serpent’s sinuous shape is featured in rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings, where it is embellished with diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and vivid enamels. Each piece is a fusion of elegance, impeccable craftsmanship and timeless aesthetics.

Enchanting timepieces

In ancient Greece, the serpent was also associated with Time, as represented by the figure of the uroboro. The maison’s collection extends purposefully to the world of luxury watches, with splendid creations where the head of the snake serves as the dial of the timepiece. Just to mention, Serpenti Tubogas and Serpenti Seduttori watches embody Bulgari’s mastery in combining jewelry and horology. Each watch is not just a timekeeping instrument but a wearable work of art to be admired every day.

Thanks to the cinematography appearances the brand has been able to enhance the cultural relevance of the stunning collection. Among the most famous representations featuring pieces from the collection are films like “La Dolce Vita” with Gina Lollobrigida, “Casino” with Sharon Stone, and “Mission Impossible” with Tom Cruise.

75th Anniversary

To pay homage and celebrate the 75th anniversary of the collection, Bulgari has conceived an international artistic initiative open to the public, taking the visitors on a journey through the collection from its origins to the present day. The exhibition has been showcased in Shanghai, Seoul, Dubai, and Tokyo. The final and only European stop featured Milan, honored with an incredible installation near the majestic Arch of Peace. The exhibition was designed as a two-story exploration of the historic collection with a strong synergy between present and past, heritage and future. Splendid pieces of the collection alternated with artistic installations in unique rooms, aiming to engage the visitor sensorially. For the occasion, six international and Italian artists (Davide Quayola, Sougwen Chung, Daniel Rozin, Cate M, Fabrizio Braghieri, and Filippo Salerni) were involved in the project, each interpreting the eclectic nature of the Serpenti symbol with their unique and refined works.
